Several Affected as In-Flight Disturbance Hits Delta Aircraft into Sydney, Australia

Delta Airlines said the Airbus A350 went through "momentary rough air" as it arrived at its destination.

Multiple passengers and crew have been injured following a Delta Airlines aircraft from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia was hit by rough air Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a company official informed. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.

Local paramedics stated they treated a total of five people, and transferred a trio to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that included pain in the back and headaches. The patients' ages were between their 30s to 70s.

The event represents the most recent case of commercial jets encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists pointing out that climate change is a major factor.

The aircraft was carrying nearly 250 travelers and fifteen staff members on the Airbus A350, the official added, adding that the plane landed "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on the day in question.

The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they got a call just only 180 seconds prior to the plane landed, and ambulances were standing by on the runway.
