Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.
